Bridging the Gap: From Biomarker Discovery to Precision Medicine Implementation in CKD

PRIME-CKD consortium leader Hiddo Heerspink gave an inspiring presentation during the 7^th Annual CKD Drug Development Summit (Home – 7th CKD3 Summit) in Boston. Hiddo presented the large variations in both risk and response to guideline therapies for chronic kidney disease. In his talk he revealed the large variation in underlying mechanisms in different CKD stages and etiology. Even though biomarker guided treatment could provide a solution there is still a large gap between successful biomarker discovery and clinical implementation. PRIME-CKD is aiming to bridge this gap between discovery, validation and clinical implementation.
